Unlike so many of his pals who also took up the guitar in their early teens, Tim Crosby was not particularly interested in rock and roll. Flatt & Scruggs or Bill Monroe, though? Now you’re talking! While in college, some hippie traded Tim a mandolin for a few flatpick guitar lessons and the die was cast. These days, Crosby is the fiddle and mandolin player for Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising. At present, they’re in and out of the recording studio and in the thick of another busy performance season.
Tim’s “day job” is teaching private music lessons; he works with forty-some students weekly, ranging in age from 5 to 83. He is also a fairly prolific songwriter.
